Spring 2012 Trends

I look forward to attending the bridal market each season.  Not only it is fun to see what each designer is offering, I am always fascinated by the fashion trends.   I don't believe that we should be a slave to trends but they seem to indicate what is in demand by brides.  Good or bad, trends develop around celebrities and highly publicized weddings.  No doubt that the royal wedding is having an impact on brides desires for their big day.

Straps and Sleeves

There is a an increase in gowns offered with straps and sleeves: this trend has caught on and is being offered by most designers. Most gowns with sleeves and straps are made of lace. This soft romantic style continues to grow in popularity.

Lingerie Look
I wasn't sure how well this style would catch on when I saw it on the runway about a year ago, but I can say that its more popular than ever.  The lingerie look, with it's defined boning and see through panel  from the bust to waist is flirtatious.

Color

Each season designers include a touch of color to a limit number of gowns.  Tones that have been popular include ivory lace over champagne or gold.  Pale pink gowns also popped up on the runway with Pronovias producing a few gowns with this color option.  WTOO by Watters Bridal has a soft oatmeal hue and a new gray.

Bling

It seemed for the last few years, brides were interested in understated style.  Although there are plenty of simple gowns to chose from, there was more bling than I have seen in the last few seasons.  Brides who want to sparkle on their wedding day will have plenty to choose from.

Texture

Texture made its way on to the runway last season, but every designer has added additional gowns with flange, ruffles, petals and flowers.

There is much for brides to look forward to in the coming year.

Best wishes,
